Custom Creations Part Time Retail Clerk
Perform job tasks at Custom Creations. Interact and assist customers with finding pieces,
schedule deliveries as needed, check out customers, and count in/out the cash drawer.
Ensure that the store room is displayed nicely and kept clean. Educate the public on the
history of Custom Creations and DSNWK as a whole. Treating individuals served with dignity
and respect is a prime responsibility.

Essential Functions
1. Responsible for positively assisting customers.
2. Rotate the weekly schedule, including Saturdays.
3. Scheduling deliveries for large pieces within city limits.
4. Counting in/out the cash drawer to ensure the drawer is balanced.
5. Running a report in the Square system at the beginning and end of the shift.
6. Keep the environment clean (furniture dusted, bathrooms cleaned, trash emptied,
floor and entryway swept, etc.) and display it in an attractive manner within the shop.
7. Research and create art kits for our artists during downtime.
8. Help our artists during class time at the store when scheduled. Work alongside
individuals served who are employed at the store and assist them with their job duties
so that they can be as independent as possible.
9. Be able to work alone and be self-sufficient.
10. Assist with staging and putting away holiday decorations.
11. Ensure work hours remain within approved weekly hours unless prior approval is
obtained from the Director.
12. Attend initial and ongoing training and meetings as required by DSNWK.
13. Assist with events that are part of “The Bricks” activities or other planned events.
14. Promote the department and agency in the community to reduce attitudinal and
architectural barriers.
15. Become familiar with the rights of individuals served and ensure these rights are
maintained at all times through appropriate verbal and physical interactions.
16. Represent DSNWK with professionalism and individuals served in an advocacy role in all
activities.
17. Per agency policy, report health, safety, licensing, and ANE issues to appropriate
personnel.
18. Ensure equipment runs smoothly and report issues.
19. Notify the supervisor when supplies are running low.
Education - A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Experience - 1 year of experience in Human Services / Retail preferred. High school Diploma
Preferred. Must be 18 years or older. Part-Time Benefited position.
This position is subject to the two-year training period as defined by KPERS.
Extent of physical effort required - Routine job requirements. Lifting requirement of 50 lbs or
less on a limited basis. Little to no behavior or other physical intervention. Must be
physically able to evacuate individuals served in an emergency and move furniture pieces
throughout the store, display pieces, and perform extended periods of standing, climbing
stairs, etc.
1. Valid driver's license.
2. Desire to work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
3. Able to exercise sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential information.
4. Work well with community members and represent the organization.
