Job Summary

Management of the agency's financial position and prepare reports to provide information for decision support or to meet the requirements of funding sources.

Essential Functions

  1. Provide consultation and research in accounting and management areas.
  2. Establish or maintain adequate internal control systems throughout the accounting functions to safeguard financial assets and to prevent fraud and waste.
  3. Prepare and monitor the agency's general budget and any subsequent revisions     on a timely basis.
  4. Manage the agency's financial position.
  5. Responsible for preparation of the monthly financial statements and other designated reports for reporting to the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors.
  6. Prepare the annual cost calculations to be used in reporting service costs to County Commissions.
  7. Prepare annual County Commissions reports.
  8. Coordinate preparation of workpapers and other documentation for the annual independent audit.
  9. Oversee the central purchasing system, including maintaining user security.
  10. Prepare special projects cost analysis as required.
  11. Analyze service costs and prepare extraordinary funding applications for persons served by DSNWK CSP.
  12. Prepare financial data for Annual Report.
  13. Prepare CDDO quarterly reports as required by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services.
  14. Directly supervise the Fiscal Services Manager and the Internal Analyst. Provide team leadership and training as necessary.
  15. Plan and oversee department budgets.
  16. Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance and Human Resources.

HIPAA Compliance

This position is responsible for maintaining confidentiality for all PHI and ePHI that is

shared with this person. This position will have access to all PHI and ePHI for

individuals required to make financial or budgetary decisions for DSNWK.

KPERS Eligibility

This position is not subject to the two-year training period as defined by KPERS. 

Job Specifications

Education - BS in Business with emphasis in accounting; CPA preferred.

Experience - Five years experience in complete accounting cycle and statement generation and budgeting process required. Must understand GAAP accounting and keep current on new applicable financial accounting standards. Experience with Excel and competency to learn multiple software applications is required. Knowledge of federal and state granting systems Recommended.

Extent of physical effort required - Routine job requirements. Little if any behavior or other physical intervention.

Other Requirements

1. Able to exercise good judgment and discretion in handling confidential information.

2. Valid driver's license.
