Human Resource Assistant

Job Summary
Provide departmental and staff support primarily in areas of employment, payroll processing and record keeping.
Essential Functions
- Establish and maintain employee personnel and medical files.
- Assist with the coordination of training participation, materials, schedule, locations, and equipment.
- Copy and compile department related materials used during pre-employment training (PET).
- Complete prospective employee reference checks in a timely manner.
- Place help-wanted advertisements as written, approved, and directed by the Manager of Human Resource Services.
- Enter injury reports as assigned.
- Coordinate DSNWK location specific job fairs. Attend and participate in community job fairs, as assigned.
- Provide clerical support and ensure availability of necessary office supplies and materials for trainers and human resource staff.
- Assist in coordinating department activities and addressing routine inquiries as delegated.
- Maintain knowledge and skills related to human resources through regular review of written materials and attendance at training events.
Other Responsibilities
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Manager of Human Resource Services.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with the public, co-workers, and management.
- Will have access to PHI and EPHI including names of all persons served and the location where they receive services.
- This position is not subject to the two year training period as defined by KPERS.
Job Specifications
Education - High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Related post-secondary training certificate may substitute for experience requirement.
Experience - Two years related experience including word processing and database administration required. Related education as described may substitute for one year of experience.
Extent of physical effort required - Routine job requirements. Little if any behavior or other physical intervention.
